Pinot Gris

Pinot Gris is a white wine that has a light crisp taste. Gris in French means gray which is named in reference to its distinctive array of colors from orange-pink to pale dusty purple.

Pinot Gris is used mainly used as a varietal wine but is sometimes used as a blending component. Depending on the region and style of the winemaker the flavors and aromas can vary. Although most winemakers will avoid oak characters but will sometimes use older barrels that have less oak flavor in the fermentation process. Pinot Gris is the original name from the French but when it reached Italy it became the more common name of Pinot Grigio. The varietal is doing very well in the United States and most winemakers recognize and label their wine in accordance with the difference between Pinot Gris and Pinot Grigio.

Also, make sure you are checking your emails often. We have dinners that are starting up again and we all know how fast they fill up. Winter is going to soon come to an end and that means getting to see all of our regular, wonderful faces on the patio and also some new faces. Until then, come in and hang out at the bar.
